The Ikuchishima/Setoda area is located along the Shimanami Sea Route in the Seto Inland Sea.
Azumi Setoda is located on this beautiful island, surrounded by the blue sea, colorful trees, and pleasant sea breezes.
The symbolic “Former Horiuchi Residence,” located in the old townscape of Setoda, Ikuchishima, also known as “Lemon Island,” is an old private house that was once used by a wealthy merchant who prospered in the salt manufacturing and transportation industries.
This building has been restored and reborn as an inn, based on the concept of sukiya-zukuri (a type of traditional Japanese house).

The architectural design was supervised by Shiro Miura of Rokkakuya, a Kyoto-based architect who has worked on many traditional Japanese architectural projects.
Natural materials such as wood, stone, and earth are balanced with the climate, including sea breezes, sunlight, and humidity, and a garden located in the center of the site has a strong presence as a regulator of ventilation.
Upon entering the two-story wooden main building, visitors will find themselves in an open-air public space with a reception area and main dining room.
