Nishiwaga Town in Iwate Prefecture is located in the mountains of the heart of a mountain. It is actually one of the heaviest snowfall areas in Japan.

If you are coming from Tokyo by train, take the Tohoku Shinkansen to Kitakami Station and transfer to the JR Kitakami Line, which takes about four hours to get to Hot Yuda Station.
From there, it is about a 10-minute drive through the mountains.

The most attractive feature of yamado is the snow-viewing baths in winter.
Of course, the semi-open-air baths in the rooms are available, but I recommend the outdoor bath “Yuba Issun” along the mountain stream.
The Koishigase River is right in front of you. Rather, the baths are built to overhang the mountain stream, so you feel at one with the river!
All you can hear is the murmuring of the river and the sound of the wind.
The only sounds you can hear are the murmur of the stream and the sound of the wind, and as you soak in the hot water while looking up at the falling snow, you will feel as if you are about to ascend to the heavens.
The spring is a sodium-sulfate/chlorides spring. Of course, you can enjoy the spring water 100% free-flowing.
