The charm of Okutsu-so is its hot spring!
The hot spring at Okutsu-so comes from right under the bathtub, in other words, from the foot of the guest.
Since the bathtub is located right above the source of the spring, the hot spring water is bubbling and gushing from the foot of the guest.
The volume of water gushing out is 247 liters per minute and the temperature is 42 degrees Celsius. You can enjoy freshly gushed hot spring water anytime without any modification.
The most popular are the “key bath” and the “standing bath.
The “key bath” is said to have originated from the fact that the bathhouse was once a therapeutic bath for the exclusive use of the lord, so it was kept under lock and key.

The meals are Japanese cuisine with a focus on seasonal and local Mimasaka products.
If I had to pick one ingredient, it would be beef.
Originally, there was a local custom of eating beef as a substitute for medicine called “yosei-yokui,” and local dishes using beef have been handed down from generation to generation.
One such dish is sozuri nabe, in which the meat attached around the beef bones is scraped off and eaten.
Shabu-shabu, a local brand of Shinshu beef, is also available year-round.
Surprisingly, the inn also uses spring water for shabu-shabu because it tenderizes the meat.
Of course, the source is also used to cook Koshihikari rice grown by a contracted farmer.
The spring water is used abundantly in various dishes.
